Profile

Reza Zia-Ebrahimi is a lawyer and a political historian by training. He holds an MSc from the
London School of Economics (LSE) and reads a PhD at Oxford University.

From 2002 to 2005, he served as Regional Manager, Middle East & North Africa at the
World
Economic Forum, where he gained a first-hand knowledge of the most pressing issues on the
regional agenda and established personal relationships with a number of political, academic and
business figures. In 2005, he was appointed a Senior Consultant to
MEC International Ltd,
contributing to a number of discussions and papers pertaining to security in the Persian Gulf and
doing business in the region.


He is currently established as a Middle East Consultant, providing various organisations with
strategic political and business insight. He is also active in the field of peacebuilding and serves
as a Special Advisor to the Director-General of
Interpeace, in charge of resource diversification
and the development of a self-accountability framework.


As a researcher, his focus is on Iranian nationalism and through regular commentaries in the
specialised media and academic reviews, he stresses the saliency of nationalism in
foreign-policy formulation and approaches to security.


Reza Zia-Ebrahimi is fluent in several languages. He is a Swiss and Iranian citizen.
